What the world clock is good for

  • Calling family or colleagues abroad without waking them: check the time before you dial.
  • Watching markets, launches and live events that run on another city's clock.
  • Getting used to a trip's time before you go. For a specific time rather than now, use the time zone converter; for a meeting in several cities, the meeting planner.

Questions

Is the world clock accurate?

It shows your device's clock converted to each city's time zone, using the same time zone database your phone and computer use, daylight saving included. If your device's clock is right, so is this.

Can I add my own cities?

Yes: search for any city with an airport, from big hubs to small regional ones, and it joins the list. Remove a city with the cross. The list is saved in the page's address, so you can bookmark or share it.

What does the offset next to each city mean?

How far that city's clocks are ahead of yours (+) or behind (−) right now. It changes during the year if either place uses daylight saving.

Why do two cities in the same country show different times?

Large countries span several time zones: the United States has six in common use, Russia eleven, Australia three (five in summer). China is the famous exception, running the whole country on Beijing time.
