How much is in range
From London, by our flight-time estimate: 213 airports within 2 hours, 672 airports within 5 hours, 1,954 airports within 10 hours. The longer you're willing to fly, the faster the choice grows, which is half the fun of a random pick.
Ways to play
- The weekend spin: under 2 hours, big cities only. Book it if it comes up somewhere you've never been.
- Three strikes: spin three times and choose your favourite of the three.
- The long shot: 10 hours or more, anywhere. Read up on wherever it lands, even if you never go.

Questions
How does the random destination generator work?
It finds every airport within the flight time you pick from your home airport, then draws one at random. With 'Big cities' on, it draws only from large airports and gives busier hubs a better chance; with 'Anywhere', every airport in range is equally likely.
How are flight times worked out?
From the great-circle distance between the airports at an average airliner speed, plus half an hour for taxiing, take-off and landing. Real schedules vary with the route and the winds, and not every pair of airports has a direct flight.
Can I use it to plan a real trip?
Use it for ideas. Once something appeals, check flights, prices and entry rules for the destination. Some people make a game of it: spin, and go wherever it lands.
